the natural charm of the white crater of West Java, Indonesia

Knowing the white crater of Bandung Tourism The white crater of Bandung is famous for its uniqueness, its white waters resembling limestone. This crater is the result of a natural phenomenon created by the eruption of Mount Patuha. This eruption created a very wide crater with white water that is unique for its high sulfur content. In addition to sulfur, other chemical elements also play a role in coloring the water in this crater. Mount Patuha erupted in the 10th and 12th centuries. The eruption had a huge impact on the area around the mountain. Initially, this crater was not a major tourist destination in the area.
But in 1987, the geologist Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn began to investigate on the top of Mount Putuha. During his investigation he found a crater with a very beautiful color in the mountainous area. The smell of sulfur in the crater is also very strong. During the Dutch colonial period, a lime factory was built near the crater. The Dutch government has determined that the crater has a very high lime content. After the Dutch were no longer in power in Indonesia, this lime factory was still active under Japanese administration.
Simply put, after the independence of Indonesia, this place is considered a tourist attraction and continues to grow today. Apart from the early history of the rise of the Bandung White Crater tourist attraction, this place cannot be separated from the legends and folklore found in it. Like other legendary sites, this white crater is rich in folklore believed by the local community. Prior to the geologists' investigation, the site was believed by local people to be sacred. This is believed to be because there are no animals here, unlike other mountainous areas. Local people believe that there are sacred ancestral graves on this site. Therefore, until now there are still many people who perform rituals in this place.
