This site is called Buntu Pisan in the local Tongkonan language. Tongkonan Buntu Pisan comes from the Toraja language, meaning tongkon or traditional house and Buntu Pisan means flat and fertile land that can be used as a field.

The Kalimburan Bori megalithic site is one of the three megalithic sites in northern Toraja.

The three locations are Buntu Pune, Buntu Kabobong, and Kalimburan Bori. But out of the three, Kalimburan Bori is the most famous and most visited tourist attraction.

Tongkonan is a traditional house of the Toraja tribe, most of which have tall columns, overlapping each other and decorated with ornaments.

Around the Kalimburan Bori megalithic site, there are six wooden stumps that are thatched with palm fiber.

This Tongkonan building can be used as a tourist stopover.

In addition to the Tongkonan, there is also a megalithic building called Wajo. Wajo is a simpler form of megalithic building because it consists of a large stone with a distinctive shape.

Usually this stone is carved in the shape of a human head or face.

Kamba is a type of megalithic building made of large rectangular stones. Meanwhile, Loka Bola is a stone structure used by the Toraja tribe as a place of worship.

The eight rock formations in this rounded square represent the eight cardinal directions. Patane is a kind of megalithic building made of large stones that serves as a resting place for community leaders.

Each patane is usually unique in shape and decorated with intricate carvings. According to archaeologists, the Kalimburan Bori megalithic site was built around four thousand years ago by prehistoric humans who lived in the area.

This is evidenced by the discovery of large rocks with unique shapes and megaliths that cannot be done with current technology.

Kalimburan Bori megalithic site can be visited by everyone, both domestic and foreign tourists.

Currently, the Kalimburan Bori site is used as a historical tourist spot to introduce the Toraja culture to the international community.
