Oemah Petruk Karang Klethak Cultural House, which preserves Javanese art from Indonesia

 

The Oemah Petrok Karang Klethak Cultural House is an alternative educational tourism venue in the city of Malang, East Java.

This place is located at Jalan Karang Klethak No.8, Karang Klethak Village, Blimbing District, Malang City.

Due to its strategic location, just 20 minutes from the city center, this place is easily accessible both by private car and by public transport.

Oemah Petruk Karang Klethak was founded by Javanese artists and humanists with the aim of teaching, preserving and popularizing the diversity of Javanese arts among the younger generations.

Javanese arts such as wayang kulit, gamelan dance and music constitute a very rich and complex cultural heritage. Oemah Petruk Karang Klethak Cultural House tries to present Javanese culture in an educational way and offers interactive activities that attract visitors. Oemah Petrok Karang Klethak is equipped with facilities to support artistic activities.

There is a theater stage for wayang performances, as well as dance and music studios.

The cultural center offers a variety of activities and shows, including shadow puppet shows every Saturday night, gamelan and dance classes for children, and shadow puppet training for beginners.

The Oemah Petrok Karang Klethak Cultural House offers a variety of selected programs including:


1. Learn Gamelan “Learn to Play Gamelan” is a program for children and adults who want to learn gamelan. You will be accompanied by an experienced music teacher who can play gamelan.


2. Learn to Dance Learn to Dance is a Javanese dance course for both children and adults.

You will learn the basic movements of Javanese dance and dance games using accessories such as shawls.


3. Learn to play with shadow puppets. Wayang kulit is certainly no stranger to the Javanese.

Wayang kulit is a traditional folk art that tells stories about mythology and moral teachings.

The Oemah Petrok Karang Klethak Cultural House also offers shadow puppet training programs.

Other than that, this house of culture also offers special tours that invite visitors to explore the area, learn more about Javanese culture and visit interesting tourist spots in the area.

For those of you who want to visit the Oemah Petrok Karang Klethak Cultural House, this place is open every Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 17:00 WIB.

The entrance to this cultural house is quite affordable, only around 100 Rp. IDR 10,000 for adults and IDR 5,000 for children. However, some special programs, such as learning shadow puppets or gamelan, still require special fees.

Visiting this place allows visitors to experience the diversity of Javanese traditional arts and makes it a worthwhile experience, especially for the younger generation who need further education to learn about and appreciate Indonesian traditional arts.
