THE LEUSER RAIN FOREST THE LAST WILD SKY IN THE WORLD. The Leuser Ecosystem is the third largest tropical rainforest complex in the world after the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and the very well preserved Zaire forest in Africa. This area is located in the northern part of the island of Sumatra and belongs to officially to the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra. Ketambe Village is the official entry point to Gunung Leuser National Park to see wild Sumatran orangutans, black and white gibbons, hornbills, Thomas's leaf monkeys, bird monkeys and the exotic Rafflesia arnoldi, as well as other endemic Sumatran animals. Furthermore, deep within this dense rainforest, there are hundreds of tall trees, clean rivers and hot springs. the best time to visit Ketambe is between June and October, that month is the fruiting season when wild Sumatran orangutans, hornbills, St. Thomas monkeys and other endemic Sumatran wildlife forage for food, and you can see it firsthand hand the habitat of these protected animals. This tourist area is very good for those of you who feel tired or who want to find a new environment, to calm your mind for a while.
