The volcanic island of Satonda looks beautiful from the top of Mount Tambora, which is about 30 kilometers away. Many say that climbing Mount Tambora is incomplete without visiting Satonda Island. Satonda Island is said to be better known among foreign tourists, so it has become something of a stopover when visiting Komodo National Park from Bali or Lombok. According to historical folklore, this island is a forbidden island that cannot be inhabited because it became the exile of princess Dae Minga.
If you want to travel to Satonda Island, you can travel from Sumbawa Besar to Nangamiro Port with a distance of 8 hours. To reach Satonda Island from the mainland, you can cross from Labuan Kenanga. With a long journey of about 15 minutes. this route is better because Labuan Kenanga and Satonda piers are opposite each other compared to Calabahi – Satonda port, which is also about 15 minutes away. From Dompu, the two ports are about 2.5 hours from the city of Dompu.
